5 Cricketers Who Played Just One Match For Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is a team that has promised a lot year after year and has shown flashes of brilliance via individual performances but have failed to lift the elusive IPL trophy yet. The constant chopping and changing of players and less consistency in team selection can be one of the prime reasons behind their subpar performances.

It is seen that RCB buys new and talented players in the auction every year, but after a few lacklustre outings, they are dropped from the roster. In this article, we take a look at the list of 5 players who played just one game for Royal Challengers Bangalore:

#5 Abhinav Mukund

Abhinav Mukund made his debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013. In his first and only game for the Bangalore franchise, the classy left-hander scored 19 runs against Rajasthan Royals opening the innings at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Before the RCB stint, Abhinav had played for his home side Chennai Super Kings in 2008.

#4 Ashley Noffke

Former Australian pacer Ashley Noffke was a member of the RCB playing XI which faced KKR in the first-ever IPL encounter where Brendon McCullum thrashed the Bangalore bowling unit, scoring 158 unbeaten runs off 73 deliveries.

Noffke picked the wicket of David Hussey in his four-over spell in that game. It turned out to be his only appearance in the cash-rich league.

#3 Avesh Khan

Young Indian pacer Avesh Khan made his IPL debut playing for RCB in 2017. It was the last league game of the season and RCB were already out of the playoffs race. Hence Avesh Khan got an opportunity to showcase his talent in the mega-event.

Against Delhi Capitals, he bowled an economical spell conceding 23 runs and picking 1 wicket. He dismissed Sanju Samson in that game. In the recent mega-auctions, Avesh Khan was roped in by Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping INR 10 crores ahead of IPL 2022.

#2 Shadab Jakati

Shadab Jakati was one of the unsung heroes of Chennai Super Kings from 2009-12. He won 2 IPL titles playing for the MS Dhoni-led franchise. In 2014, Jakati was picked by Bangalore and interestingly his debut game for them was against his former franchise.

Unfortunately, the left-arm spinner went wicketless in the game that was basically a dead-rubber for RCB, who had already been eliminated from the tournament.

#1 Abdur Razzak

One of the most successful Bangladeshi spinners, Abdur Razzak only appeared in a single game for the Bangalore franchise. It was against Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural IPL season. He bowled 2 overs in the game and conceded 29 runs.

He was taken to the cleaners by former Proteas opener Graeme Smith in that match.
