The Indian Cricket Team’s great chance of winning the ICC tournament at home came crashing down as they suffered 6 losses against Australia in the finals of World Cup 2023 played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 19th November.

Indian players like Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammad Shami, might not feature in the next edition of World Cup 2027 to be played in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. The youngsters have done well in the shorter formats and BCCI must nurture them to feature in the 2027 World Cup.

Here we look at the 5 Emerging Indian Players Who Might Play in World Cup 2027

  1. Yashavi Jaiswal

Yashavi Jaiswal has been performing brilliantly with some attacking cricket. He showed his class with 625 runs from 14 matches for Rajasthan Royals including 1 century and 5 half-centuries. During his IPL 2023 stint, Jaiswal looked in sublime touch putting the bowlers under immense pressure.

His performances in the IPL 2023 put him in T20I and Test squad. Jaiswal can put enough pressure on the bowlers to make him a dangerous batter. With Rohit Sharma coming towards the end of his fine career, Jaiswal could be slotted as an opener and will look to play with the same attacking approach during the 2027 World Cup.

  1. Umran Malik

Umran Malik is a decent bowler with a quick pace that troubles the batters. He made his ODI debut against New Zealand in Auckland in November 2022. During that match, Malik grabbed 2 wickets and put the batters under serious threat.

Since his debut, Malik has taken 13 wickets from 9 innings at an economy of 6.54 runs per over. He was dropped the 2023 Asia Cup squad and missed from the 2023 World Cup team. Malik must work on his variations to be in the scheme of things.

With the World Cup 2027 to be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Malik could be a major threat to the batters keeping with conditions in mind.

  1. Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma had a dream IPL 2022 season for Mumbai Indians. He scored 397 runs from 14 matches and finished as the 2nd leading run scorer as MI could not qualify for the playoff stage. Varma scored 343 runs from 11 matches during IPL 2023 where MI progressed into the top four stage.

He can play the spinners brilliantly and puts pressure on the bowlers with his attacking skills. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh during the Asia Cup 2023 but failed to contribute much. Varma would be eager to prove his worth if he wants to feature in the 2027 World Cup.

  1. Arshdeep Singh

Mohammed Shami finished as the leading wicket in the 2023 World Cup with 24 wickets from 7 matches including the best figures of 7 wickets during the semi-finals against New Zealand. Indian team would be eager to get his services, but if he does not, Arshdeep Singh could fill his bowling abilities.

Arshdeep Singh is a brilliant T20I bowler with superb yorkers in the death overs and does not allow the batters to score runs easily. His performances in the format have not been great.

With his abilities and talent, Arshdeep Singh could feature in the 2027 World Cup where conditions would help the seam bowlers.

  1. Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi is an excellent leg-break bowler who can change the course of the match. He was handed the ODI debut against South Africa in October 2022. During his debut fixture, Bishnoi grabbed the wicket of de Kock but also gave 69 runs from his 8 overs.

He has performed brilliantly in the Indian Premier League trapping top-quality batters. With Ravindra Jadeja might feature in the next World Cup, Bishnoi will be handy and could play in the 2027 World Cup.
