Sunrisers Hyderabad lost to Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier to bow out of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They made it to their fifth straight playoffs since 2016 and have been one of the most consistent teams in that respect.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad made a slow start to the tournament but picked up in the business end. They defeated top-tier teams in the business end of the competition to make it to the playoffs in their final league game. David Warner & Co defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore to make it to Qualifier 2 but lost to Delhi by 17 runs to crash out of the tournament.

Going forward, they would like to release some players in order to add some new faces ahead of the 2021 season which is just six months away. So here is a list of 5 players SRH might release ahead of IPL 2021.

5 Players Sunrisers Hyderabad Might Release Ahead of IPL 2021:

1. Billy Stanlake

The Australian fast bowler Billy Stanlake was not given a single game in this IPL season. He has been with the team since 2018, but has been benched for the last two seasons. The Australian quick with his pace can be a great value addition for other teams struggling with their bowling attack.

With SRH hardly using his services, Stanlake might be released ahead of the next season.

2. Basil Thampi

The Kerala pacer Basil Thampi played just one game for the franchise this season. In the presence of Sandeep Sharma and Siddharth Kaul as the two right-arm pacers, Thampi found it tough to get through in the team on a regular basis.

He too might be released ahead of the next season by SRH who will look for a better option than Thampi with the ball. He took 1 for 46 in the single game that he played this year.

3. Khaleel Ahmed

The left-arm pacer played seven games and picked up eight wickets this season. He was erratic and expensive with the ball and did not bowl well for the franchise. With SRH having a better left-arm pace option in the form of Natarajan, Khaleel might be shown the door ahead of next season.

Khaleel picked up eight wickets from seven games for the franchise this season His economy too was on the higher side.

4. Bavanaka Sandeep

Another Sunrisers Hyderabad player, Bavanaka Sandeep was benched for the entire season. This was his debut season in the IPL. He represents Hyderabad in domestic cricket and ended as one of the highest run-getters in the 2017-18 season. The presence of Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma in the line-up saw the SRH management sideline him for an entire season.

With a team like Chennai Super Kings looking to revamp their squad ahead of the new season with the injection of young players, Sandeep might just be the right man for the job.

5. Shreevats Goswami

Goswami has been playing in the IPL ever since its inception in 2008. He was a part of the India U-19 squad along with Virat Kohli, but the Bengal wicket-keeper batsman has failed to make it big in international cricket. Having played for a number of seasons, Sunrisers Hyderabad roped him in 2018.

He played just two matches for the franchise this season and was out for ducks in both games. With the presence of Jonny Bairstow and Wridddhiman Saha in the team, Goswami stays largely out of favour of getting a game. He might well be released ahead of the next IPL season.
