IPL 2019 saw some stalwarts of cricket picked by the franchises. Some of them did a great job but few of them were dropped or did not play in XI due to winning combinations. With age or due to poor form, these players might not play the IPL next year.

1. Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh played for Mumbai Indians from 2008 till 2017. In 2018, Harbhajan Singh was bought by Chennai Super Kings franchise. In the 2018 edition, the Turbanator played 13 matches and took just 7 wickets.

In this year’s IPL, Harbhajan Singh was retained by CSK franchise. He was exceptional for MS Dhoni led franchise with the new ball taking early wickets and putting pressure on the opposition batsmen. In the 11 matches he played this season, Harbhajan Singh took 16 wickets with an economy of 7.09 runs per.

Overall in IPL history, the experienced Harbhajan became the 4th bowler to take 150 wickets. He has played 160 matches (157 innings) and taken 150 wickets with an economy of 7.05 runs per over, best figures of 5/18.

Due to age or slow reflexes, Harbhajan Singh might not feature in the IPL anymore.

2. Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh another stalwart of Indian cricket was bought by Mumbai Indians for RS 1 Crore. In this year’s IPL, the explosive left handed batsman played just 4 matches and scored 98 runs with the best score of 53.

Due to the winning combinations that Mumbai Indians needed, Yuvraj Singh was not included in the playing XI. Overall in IPL, Yuvraj Singh has played for Kings XI Punjab from 2008-2010, Pune Warriors India from 2011-2013,

Yuvraj Singh was bought for RS 14 Crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014. In 2015, Singh was bought by Delhi Daredevils for 16 Crore.

In the year 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him for RS 7 Crore. He had a successful season for them performing well in the finals.

In 2017, he was retained by SRH franchise but could not get chances. In 2018, he was bought by Kings XI Punjab but failed to get many chances.

The franchises next year may decide not to pick him due to slow reflexes or age. We might see him for the last time in IPL.

3. Shane Watson

Shane Watson had a disappointing season for Chennai Super Kings in this year IPL. In the finals against Mumbai Indians, Watson scored 80 and almost took CSK to their 4th title.

In the 2019 edition of IPL, Watson scored 398 runs from 17 matches with 3 half-centuries to his name. In last year’s IPL, CSK bought the experienced Watson. In that year, Watson was in sensational form with 555 runs from 17 matches with 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries.

Watson has been a regular member in IPL since the start. From 2008-2015, he played for Rajasthan Royals. In 2016/17, Watson featured for Royal Challengers Bangalore. From 2018/19, the experienced player featured for CSK.

With the age catching him, Watson might his last IPL tournament. He has taken retirement from Big Bash League.

4. Dwayne Bravo

The experienced West Indies all-rounder, Bravo has been a part of IPL since the first season in 2008. From 2008 to 2010, he featured for Mumbai Indians. From 2011 to 2015, Bravo was a part of CSK side.

After the ban of CSK, Bravo was a part of Gujarat Lions side. In 2018, he returned to CSK and played for Yellow army in 2019.

Bravo has the experience of playing T20 cricket around the world. He has played 134 matches ( 131 innings) and taken 147 wickets with an economy of 8.39 runs with 2 four wicket haul.

In the 2019 edition of IPL, Bravo had a disappointing season with 11 wickets from 12 matches with an economy of 8.01. Last year also, his performance was not up to mark with the ball and bat.

With the age catching and due to poor performances, the franchise may not select him in next year IPL. Bravo has been a key member in CSK side and created impact with performances with both and ball.

5. Robin Uthappa

The experienced Indian player, Robin Uthappa had a disappointing season for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2019. He played a total of 12 matches and scored 282 runs with only 1 half-century. In the knockout match against Mumbai Indians, Uthappa played a slow inning of 40 runs in 48 which led to KKR downfall and were knocked in the first round.

Robin Uthappa played for Mumbai Indians in 2008 and was successful for them. In 2009/10, he featured for RCB and disappointed with his performances.

From 2011/2013, he played for Pune Warriors India and Uthappa was the top scorer for them with 405 runs from 16 matches.

From 2014 onwards, he has been playing for KKR. He had successful seasons from 2014 onwards till 2018. With the way he performed in this years IPL, he might not play in the next IPL
