India”s trip to US has been quite a successful one. Even though they didn”t have win a game, they can be very proud of their effort. It was just that luck was not with them. Here is a look at 5 things India can take from this T20I series vs West Indies.
- Accurate line and lengths by seamers.
This has been an area of concern for India over the last couple of years or more especially in death overs. On many occasions, Indian bowlers have been guilty of missing the yorker mark more often than not and as a result providing shin-height full tosses to opposition batsmen. But in this series all 3 seamers BK, Shami and Bumrah were spot on with their wide yorkers, something that team management can take a lot of heart from.

- Spinners coming to the party
In the first T20I when it was a massacre for bowlers, Indian spinners managed to survive the onslaught. Ashwin bowled his 4 overs for 36 runs which was brilliant under circumstances. Jadeja chipped in with 2 wickets in the last over. In the second game Mishra was the pick of Indian bowlers. He bowled very tight giving away just 24 runs and picked 3 crucial wickets. Ashwin too played his part with figures of 2/11 from 3 overs.
- Batsmen stepping in when Kohli failed.
This is one of the biggest positive India can take from this series. On many occasions India have been over-reliant on Kohli. India made 244 in first T20 with Kohli scoring only 16 of them. Virat is bound to score many many more runs but batsmen stepping in when he fails will take a lot of pressure off him.
- New opening pair?
India found a new opening pair in T20 cricket in form of Rahane and Rohit, the two Mumbai superstars. Rahane is someone who should be playing all formats and just not be labelled as a “Test specialist”. This will put pressure on Dhawan and give India a lot of options to choose from in case someone is not fit or not in form.
- KL Rahul
By far the best thing to happen to India in this T20I series. Rahul given a chance, smashed the fastest hundred by Indian in any format of the game. A great fielder and part-time keeper combined with his batting skills, Rahul adds a lot to the table. This series will make people believe in his credentials as a limited overs batsman after Rahul has already made a mark in test. Certainly the one to look out for in the future.
