5 Positives Team India can take from ODI Series win against South Africa

India registers their first bilateral ODI series in 25 years in South Africa. Virat Kohli became the first batsman to score most runs in a bilateral series & 2nd Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to score more than 500 runs in an ODI series.

Team India put a brilliant performance in the recently concluded ODI series. They did their best to win the first ever ODI series win by team India in South Africa. It is now expected that team India will continue to bring glory to the country in this season where they will play in overseas conditions against England and Australia. A lot of questions were raised ahead of the ODI series and many thought that like other captains in the past, Virat Kohli also might not bring the change like many other captains did in the past.

2. Wrist Spinners produced miracles

With wrist spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal picking the majority of wickets away from the home conditions. It is clear that they can provide the necessary wickets that team India needs. The duo took 33 wickets in 6 ODIs and most important changed the change in favor of team India. The South African batsmen were found completely tottering against India’s spin bowling.

While most of the fans must have thought that India is far away from winning they”re first ever ODI series in South Africa. The captain led by example. He not only created his own milestone but helped the team win the series 5-1. He took important decisions and allowed both the spinners in seamer-friendly tracks and got the best out of them. He scored 558 runs in 6 games and became the best captain to win an ODI series in the South African soil.

4. Batting Performance

Despite some problems in the middle orders. The Top 3 were involved among run scorers. Shikhar Dhawan scored 2 fifties and a century. Rohit Sharma got off his bad form and was able to hit the much-needed ton in the fifth ODI. He needs to improve in the upcoming T20 series. While the skipper notched up 3 hundred in the series that took his centuries tally to 36 in ODIs.

5. Seamers continued to play their part

It was clear from the test series that team India has the best seamers in their side. After their excellence in the test series, the best bowling duo in the current era, Jasprit Bumrah, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled very well in the initial powerplay overs and the death overs. They picked up 10 wickets in the series while Shardul Thakur also grabbed the opportunity and picked 4 wickets in the last ODI.
