Arjun Tendulkar (Mumbai Indians)
Arjun Tendulkar, son of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar was roped in by Mumbai Indians for his base price of 20 lakhs. Playing his very first IPL season, it will be interesting to see if he can make it to the XI. And if he does make it, how can he contribute with the bat and the ball. He recently played for Mumbai in the last edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament. Arjun had raised his stakes by hammering a 31-ball 77 and then returning with 3-41 for MIG Cricket Club in the 73rd Police Invitation Shield tournament in February.

Shahrukh Khan (Punjab Kings)
The Tamil Nadu player was a part of the squad that won the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy this year. He hit the winning runs in the final too. Shahrukh Khan is a middle-order batsman who has the power to hit some mighty blows. He has played 31 T20s for 293 runs at a strike rate of 131.39. He is also a useful leg spinner. He rose through the ranks in Tamil Nadu cricket playing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

Devdutt Padikkal (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Devdutt Padikkal was the highest run-getter for RCB in the last edition of the IPL. He is in fine form in recent times having scored 737 runs in just 7 innings at an average of 147.4 and strike rate of 95.96 in the Vijay Hazare trophy. He is likely to open the batting alongside Virat Kohli and thus has a full quota of 20 overs to score big runs for his side. Unfortunately, he has tested COVID positive a few days before the start of the tournament.

Marco Jansen (Mumbai Indians)
Young South African pacer Marco Jansen was roped in by Mumbai Indians for 20 lakhs. He has raw pace and can bowl real quick. He had a fine start to his first-class career bagging 54 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 22.96 and strike rate of 42.5. Jansen has also featured in 13 List A games and 10 T20s, claiming 16 and six wickets, respectively. Moreover, he is also a handy lower-order batsman and has three half-centuries to his name in first-class cricket.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings)
Gaikwad flourished in the last three matches for Chennai Super Kings last season, In two of those games, he won the Man of the Match award scoring back to back fifties. He played just six games for the franchise last season. However, this season with Shane Watson retired he has a shot at playing a full season and consistently opening the batting for the side or bat in the top three. He will face competition from the experienced Robin Uthappa who also was traded by the franchise who was in search of an experienced Indian opener. The 24-year-old from Maharashtra has a stellar record in T20 cricket with an average of 33.55 and strike rate of 130.69.
