9 Players to watch out for during Australia -India T20I Series

Australia & India will kick off the blockbuster summer with 3 match T20I series starting from 21st November. The Men in Blue are coming with 3-0 whitewash off the defending T20 champions West Indies at home while Australia was whitewashed 0-3 by Pakistan and lost the one-off T20I match against South Africa.

Both teams have played 15 T20I matches with India winning 10 and Australia 5. It is going to be an exciting series. Last time these two teams met in India during 2017, the series ended in 1-1 draw.

With Virat Kohli coming into the T20I squad, the Indian team looks strong and has big game changers which can win matches on their own with big hitting. The Indian team have played some brilliant T20I cricket while Australia is lacking confidence with 0 win percentage.

Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, the Indian team whitewashed Australia 3-0 when they toured Australia in 2016. Both teams have some quality match winners which can change the course of the game.

Rohit Sharma is one of the dangerous T20I batsmen in the world at the present moment. In the recently concluded T20I series against West Indies, the stylish right-handed batsman became the only player to score 4 T20I centuries in T20I format.

Sharma made his T20I debut against England during the World T20 in 2007. Since then he has played 87 T20I matches for team India and scored 2207 runs with 4 centuries and 15 half centuries.

Rohit Sharma makes the batting look easy and smashes big sixes after playing few balls. In the latest ICC T20I rankings, dashing right-handed batsman jumped to his best ever ranking of 7th.

In the year 2018, Rohit Sharma has been in good form during T20I format for team India with 560 runs from 16 matches ( 16 innings) with a strike rate of 148.93. He hit so far 2 centuries and 3 half-centuries to his name. He is currently number 4 in leading run-getters for the T20I format in 2018.

While opening the innings, Rohit Sharma would be looking to give the team a flying start and help India post big totals. In the last tour of Australia, Rohit provided good starts to the team in a T20 format with Shikhar Dhawan and would be looking do the same this time also.

2. Aaron Finch

The Australian captain Aaron Finch is one of best T20I batsmen in the world. He made his T20I debut for Australia in 2011 against England. Since then he has played 47 T20I’s and scored 1608 runs. Aaron Finch posted the highest individual score in T20 format scoring 156 against England in 2013.

Finch holds the highest individual score in T20 format scoring 172 against Zimbabwe on 3rd July 2018 during T20I tri-series.

Finch has been in good form this during T20I’s for Australia. He has scored 476 runs from 14 matches (14 innings) with a strike rate of 188.14. While opening the innings, Finch made 44, 74 and did not play in the 3rd T20I during the 2016 India tour of Australia.

With the number 2 ranked batsman in the world and lack of good quality players in the Australian T20I team, the captain needs to take charge, providing the Australian team good starts to team.

3. Risbabh Pant

The hard-hitting left-handed batsman Risbabh Pant got chances in the recently concluded T20I series against West Indies at home. He failed to contribute at Kolkata and Lucknow. Chasing 182 runs to win in the 3rd T20I at Chennai, Pant showed promise with his big hitting scoring 58 off 38 balls.

With no MS Dhoni in the squad for this T20I series, Pant would be looking to cement his place in the Indian squad. He made his T20I debut for India in 2017 against England. He has played 7 T20Is and scored 137 runs with the best score of 58.

His ability to hit innovative strokes and put pressure on bowlers makes him a special batsman. He was in a great mood during the Indian Premier League season 11 for Delhi Daredevils, scoring 684 runs from 14 matches with 5 half centuries and 1 half century.

Playing his first Australia tour, Pant would look to impress with his bat and also do the keeping job.

4. Chris Lynn

Chris Lynn another dangerous T20 batsman in the world. He made his T20I debut for Australia against England in 2014. Since his debut, Lynn has played 15 T20I matches and scored 228 runs with a strike rate of 128.08.

In the 2018 edition of IPL, Chris Lynn played brilliantly for Kolkata Knight Riders scoring 491 runs from 16 matches with a strike rate of 130.23, hit 3 half-centuries to his name.

Lynn has not been in great form during 2018 for Australia in T20 format, with just 163 runs from 10 matches (9 innings) with a strike rate of 125.38.

5. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has been the backbone of Indian bowling line up since making his T20I debut during the 2016 tour of Australia at Adelaide. He has taken so far 46 wickets from 37 matches at an economy of 6.73 runs per over.

Bumrah bowls the Yorkers brilliantly and does not allow the batsman to score runs easily. During his debut T20I series against Australia, Bumrah took 6 wickets in 3 matches and helped team India whitewash the hosts in their own den.

With his unorthodox action, Bumrah is difficult to face and would create a big problem for the Australian bowling line up. India would be looking that Bumrah picks early wickets and also control the run flow.

6. Andrew Tye

Andrew Tye is one of the best T20I bowlers. He made his T20I debut for Australia in 2016 against India. Since then, he has taken 35 wickets from 23 matches ( 23 innings) with an economy of 8.64 runs per over.

In overall T20 matches, Tye has played 106 matches (105 innings) and taken 157 wickets with an economy of 7.79 runs per over. The right arm medium pace bowler is tied with the most number of hattricks with 3 hattricks. Amit Mishra is another bowler with 3 hattricks in T20’s

In 2018, Andrew Tye has been in superb bowling form for Australia in T20I format. He is leading wicket-taker so far picking 29 wickets from 16 matches ( 16 innings) with an economy of 8.21 runs, best figures of 4/23. Tye would play an important role to pick early wickets against a strong Indian batting order and also control the run flow.

7. Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav, the chinaman bowler has been in excellent form for team India. He made his T20I debut for India against West Indies in 2017. Since making his debut, Kuldeep Yadav has taken 29 wickets from 14 matches (14 innings) with an economy of 7.02 runs per over. His best figures in T20I format came against England picking 5/24 in the first T20I match played at Old Trafford on 3rd July 2018.

During the recently concluded T20I series against West Indies at home, Kuldeep Yadav was named as man of series for taking 5 wickets in 2 matches. With the batsmen not reading his variations, Yadav could be a big threat and trouble the Australian batsmen.

Glenn Maxwell known to be hard-hitting all-rounder is currently struggling to score runs. He made his T20I debut for Australia against Pakistan in 2012. Since then, he has scored 1267 runs from 54 matches (48 innings) with a strike rate of 158.97. In 2016 against Sri Lanka, Maxwell smashed the Sri Lankan bowling line-up scoring 145 not out.

Glenn Maxwell is one of the batsmen to score 2 T20I batsmen. In 2018, Maxwell has scored 428 runs from 16 matches (15 innings) with 1 century and 2 half centuries. With the ball, the all-rounder has taken 8 wickets from 16 matches (7 innings) with an economy of 8 runs per over.

Maxwell needs to come good with all-around abilities to challenge the Indian team. Being the number 1 ranked all-rounder in T20I format, he should produce match-winning knocks and help Australia get out of the poor performance.

9. Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya made his T20I debut for India during the recently concluded series against West Indies at home. He did not get a chance to bat in 2 matches. In the first T20I match played at Kolkata, Pandya took 1 wicket giving away 15 runs and also impressed with batting skills scoring 21 runs off 9 balls.

With no Hardik Pandya in the squad, Krunal Pandya would be looking to impress with his all-around abilities in Australian conditions. He has the experience of playing in the Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians.

Playing on the first tour, Krunal Pandya must rise to the occasion and help team India win matches. In 2018 IPL, the left-handed Pandya scored 228 runs from 14 matches took 12 wickets with the ball.
