The IPL auction is just hours away, and all ten franchises have formulated their strategies for what is expected to be the biggest auction in the tournament’s history. While most teams have retained their core players, franchises like RCB and Punjab Kings will aim to rebuild their squads from the ground up.
The auction will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25, with over 1000 players set to go under the hammer across the two days. Coaches and team management will be present, looking to assemble squads capable of winning IPL titles in the coming years.
Mitchell Marsh is expected to attract a high bid in the IPL auction due to his all-round abilities. While he impressed with the ball in the ongoing Test against India, his batting was subpar. Released by Delhi Capitals, Marsh’s natural skills make him a potential hot commodity in the auction, despite inconsistent performances in the tournament.
Here are the 3 Teams That Should Target Mitchell Marsh in the IPL 2025 Auction:
#3 Punjab Kings
The Punjab Kings, aiming to build a new core, have retained only Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh. Mitchell Marsh could be a valuable addition, with his versatility to bat anywhere in the order. He can open the innings, dominate in the powerplay, and intimidate bowlers with his aggressive strokes.
Marsh can also contribute in the middle or lower-middle order and, if needed, bowl a few overs. His experience as a former captain of Australia could also make him a strong candidate for a leadership role.
#2 Royal Challengers Bengaluru
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), still in search of their first IPL title, may target Mitchell Marsh after releasing top all-rounders like Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green.
RCB has often lacked a consistent power hitter during the powerplay, and in the batting-friendly conditions at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Marsh could be a challenge for bowlers. His ability to dominate the powerplay and play with freedom makes him an ideal fit for the team.
#1 Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings, who have won the IPL five times, might target Mitchell Marsh after releasing Daryl Mitchell, a player with a similar skill set. Despite being bought for a hefty Rs 14 crores, Daryl Mitchell struggled to make an impact and was eventually dropped from the playing XI.
CSK has traditionally focused on stability at the top of the order and while they score well, they lack a player who can dominate the opposition’s bowling in the powerplay. With Rs 55 crores remaining in their budget, CSK could look to bring in Mitchell Marsh.
