Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra has picked his three best moments from Indian cricket in 2021. The year was memorable for Indian cricket, especially in the Test format. India registered memorable wins overseas starting with The Gabba and ending at Centurion. The team had its share of lows as well losing the WTC final and making an early exit from the T20 World Cup.
Aakash Chopra in his recent Youtube video picked the three best moments from Indian cricket . He went in the reverse order starting with India’s loss to Pakistan by 10 wickets. Babar Azam (68*) and Mohammed Rizwan (79*) chased 152 to win and outplayed India in the process.

Virat Kohli, at the end of the game was wise and human enough to hug Rizwan and give him credit for the innings he played. He also lauded Babar for his innings as well.
“You might say it is slightly bittersweet or what is good in that. Not good or bad but it defines Indian cricket. Remember the World Cup game we lost to Pakistan. India was totally destroyed and Pakistan won by 10 wickets.”
These Moments Define Indian Cricket: Aakash Chopra
“You might say it is slightly bittersweet or what is good in that. Not good or bad but it defines Indian cricket. Remember the World Cup game we lost to Pakistan. India was totally destroyed and Pakistan won by 10 wickets” said Chopra.
The former Indian cricketer selected India’s Test win at Lord’s as the second-best moment from Indian cricket in 2021. England showed great resilience to hand on but it was India who fought hard and won the match by 151 runs and with just 8 overs to go for the end of the day’s play on day 5.
“My second moment is Lord’s. India played well in the first innings – Rahul scored a century and Rohit played well. There is a collapse on the second morning and Joe Root hits another century, that too 180. You conceded the first-innings lead.”
“In the second innings, India were 55/3 at one stage and Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were playing to save their places. They have a big partnership but again you are 209/8 and then the amazing partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. After that, England were bowled out for 120 in just 51 overs.”
India’s win at The Gabba tops Chopra’s list of best moments from Indian cricket. A young Indian team without their skipper Virat Kohli did the unthinkable at Australia’s fortress. They became the only team to beat the hosts at the venue in 30 years and breaching it in the process.
Gabba Win Tops Aakash Chopra’s List
“At No.1, it has to be Gabba. Our bowling lineup was Mohammed Siraj, T Natarajan, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar – what was the chance of India doing well in that game? Australia scored 369 when they batted first. India conceded the lead and were only able to fight because Washi and Shardul scored 62 and 67” concluded Chopra.
