Ravichandran Ashwin has been on a dream run ever since the Test series against Australia Down Under. He picked up 11 wickets in the series followed by another 24 in the first three Tests against England. Ahad of the fourth Test, Aakash Chopra has hailed Ashwin as one of India’s greatest matchwinners ever. Ashwin also went past 400 Test wickets in the last Test. Moreover, he became the second-fastest bowler after Muttiah Muralitharan to attain the elusive feat.

Ravichandran Ashwin is Phenomenal: Aakash Chopra

With all eyes on him to add more to his series-tally in the fourth and final Test, former cricketer Aakash Chopra hailed Ashwin as one of India’s biggest match-winners. “Phenomenal, seventy-seven Test matches for 400 Test wickets. Let the naysayers be, the fact is that when the pitch is dished out there are four or five spinners playing on the very same surface. One guy is picking more wickets than anybody else and it is not that you are playing only on rank turners,” said Chopra during a discussion on the Star Sports show Cricket Connected.

“He has been absolutely phenomenal with the craft he has displayed over a period of time and as he is growing as a bowler, he is picking up a lot of wickets overseas. So, that question mark is also getting answered quite nicely and I feel he is an absolute rockstar, he is one of the biggest match-winners that India has ever produced, of course Anil Kumble will remain at No.1 still,” concluded Chopra.

Meanwhile both the teams are busy preparing for the fourth Test. A defeat in the last Test has put England out of contention for the World Test Championship final race. India need to ensure that they do not lose the fourth Test against England to guarantee a place in the final alongside New Zealand.
