Aakash Chopra Questions Prithvi Shaw’s Fitness After The Latter Gets Run-out In the 3rd ODI

Batting sensation Prithvi Shaw had a lean patch on his debut ODI series against New Zealand. He got good starts but failed to convert them into big knocks. In the third ODI as well, Shaw got run-out after a fine start scoring 42 runs which led former India cricketer Aakash Chopra question his fitness levels.

Meanwhile, Team India finished a forgettable series losing three matches in a row. They failed to defend 297 runs as the Kiwi batters produced another combining effort to chase down the target with 17 balls to spare. Colin de Grandhomme smacked 58 runs off 28 deliveries including six fours and three sixes to swiftly cross the target. Earlier in the day, India had banked on a century from KL Rahul to set up a challenging total on the board but it was not enough to save the day for them.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw's wicket raised questions over his fitness. Although there was not a second run on, but Shaw called it from the onset. However, what attracted the eyeballs were the yards by which the youngster fell short. He had put in the dive but he was still a yard short. Shaw had time and again struggled for fitness and Tuesday's game once again raised doubts.

Aakash Chopra, while stating that there were no doubts over his batting talents, raised doubts over his fitness. The cricketer-turned commentator stated that he needs to work on that aspect.

"There was a relatively easy second run available. It was his own call too. Surprised by the margin Prithvi fell short. Special talent to hit the ball but will have to work on his fitness. #Prithvi #NZvInd," Aakash Chopra wrote in a tweet.
