Aakash Chopra has picked that one RCB player which was the biggest disappointment for them during IPL 2020. The Royal Challengers Bangalore this year had a decent IPL season as they managed to qualify for the playoffs. Virat Kohli’s side was outstanding in the first half of the competition but faltered during the business stages.

RCB were knocked out by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator and their long wait of winning IPL continuous. Recently Aakash Chopra cited the one RCB player which under-performed throughout the IPL season. The popular commentator deems that Aaron Finch was the biggest failure for RCB in IPL 2020. Finch was picked in the auction by RCB for a hefty amount of Rs.4.40 crores and was expected to make a difference in his first season for RCB.

Aaron Finch Was The Biggest Disappointment For RCB- Aakash Chopra

Unfortunately, Finch looked completely out of sorts and desperately searched for runs in the 12 matches that he played. Finch in IPL 2020 scored 268 runs at an average of 22.33 and strike rate of mere 111.20. Chopra pointed out that Finch was given a long rope by the RCB management but he failed to impress. The Australian white-ball captain was immensely backed by RCB but he had an underwhelming IPL season with the bat.

“Aaron Finch was the biggest disappointment for RCB this season. They had put huge stakes on him and stuck with him for a long time as well. You expect the Finch hitting from him”, Chopra said in a video on his official Facebook page

“He got a whole lot of chances to bat. So no one can say that he played in this team and was not given the chances. You can say that for Moeen Ali, that he was in and out of the team but Aaron Finch played all the matches, I mean he played 10-12 matches at the start”, he added.

Meanwhile, Aaron Finch was dropped from the side during fag end of the competition and was replaced by Joshua Philippe. After a quiet few outings of Philippe, RCB once again picked Finch in the side but he again failed to make an impact in the eliminator against SRH.

Aakash Chopra concluded that if Finch had complimented Padikkal who was is breath-taking form, RCB would have progressed further in the competition. Also, their two stalwarts Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers too would have been under less pressure if Finch had scored runs at the top.

“But the form was not seen at all. Neither the form was seen nor the runs. He was even dropped at the end and then brought back again because Joshua Philippe did not do a great job either. But you had more expectations from Aaron Finch. Because imagine if Devdutt Padikkal was playing well from one side and Aaron Finch had been playing well, then the pressure and responsibility would have been less on Virat and AB de Villiers”, Aakash Chopra said.
