After a thumping defeat in the first T20I at the hands of India, Australia might be up for some more trouble. Aussie skipper Aaron Finch, who suffered a hip injury in the first game at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Friday, is doubtful for the second tie.
Incidentally, Finch has been in superlative form with the bat since the start of the series. After guiding the home side to the ODI series win, the opener once again gave Australia a fine start scoring 35 off 26 balls but failed to take his side home.

However, much to his dismay, Aaron Finch injured his glute while diving to field a ball late in India’s innings, in a similar manner to how David Warner sustained his injury in the second ODI and was soon sidelined. He appeared to be in some discomfort as he attempted to constantly stretch out the injured muscle while batting during Australia’s chase.

Speaking at the end of the game, the 34-year old gave a worrying update on his injury which will pile up more agony for the home side as they gear up for the must-win game.
“A bit of a hip or a glute or something like that at the moment. We’ll wait and see, but it progressively got worse throughout the game. We’ll have a scan tomorrow and see how we go,” Finch had said.
Currently, the hosts are awaiting the results of scans for skipper Aaron Finch. He adds to the list of injuries the Aussies have already suffered in this series. Ashton Agar (calf), David Warner (groin) and Pat Cummins (rested) have all been ruled out of the T20 series while allrounder Marcus Stoinis is nursing a side injury while Mitchell Starc (soreness) missed the third ODI last week.
If Aaron Finch is sidelined due to injury, it will be a massive blow to Australia and also it is unclear who will take over the leadership of the white-ball outfit. Matthew Wade, who took up the wicket-keeping duties from Alex Carey acted as Finch’s deputy in the first game in the absence of Pat Cummins.
The second and third T20I is scheduled to take place on December 6 (Sunday) and December 8 (Friday) at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
