Australia’s limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch has finished 2020 as the highest run-scorer in the One Day Internationals. Meanwhile, KL Rahul is the only Indian cricketer to feature in the chart of top 5 run-scorers leaving behind the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, the list is mostly dominated by the Australian batters. Aaron Finch scored 673 runs in 13 matches to top the charts. He batted at a solid average of 56.08 and struck at 81.67, which is probably on a lower side considering that Finch is known for scoring at a quick pace. He scored two centuries in 2020 – both against India.

Aaron Finch leads the chart; Virat Kohli misses out

Aaron Finch’s teammate and former Australia skipper Steve Smith finished second in the list with 568 runs in nine innings from 10 matches. He averages 63.11 and struck at 106.56. Smith scored 3 centuries, most by any batsman in 2020. He also bagged the Player of the Series award in the recently-concluded ODI series against India.

Following Steve Smith is another Australian Marnus Labuschagne, who made his debut in the ODIs earlier this year against India. The Smith impersonator piled up 473 runs, which includes a century. Regarded as a Test specialist, Labuschagne recorded a strike rate of above 90 and is one for the future.

Considering that Australia have played the most number of ODIs (13) in 2020, rightly they have dominated the highest run-scorers list. On the other hand, England and India played 9 ODIs while South Africa played six ODIs. David Warner occupies the fourth place in the list 465 runs at 42.27. He also scored a century in 2020 – against India.

KL Rahul sits at the fifth spot with 443 runs in nine matches that he played throughout the year and is the only Indian to feature in the list. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, finished the year at the sixth spot with 431 runs. He fell just 12 runs short of Rahul’s tally. For the first time since 2009, Kohli failed to score a century in a year.
