Ab de Villiers To Play In Nepal’s Everest Premier League

Ab de Villiers is all set to feature in Nepal’s T20 league named Everest Premier League. The legendary former South African batsman has agreed to play in the Everest Premier League which will be played later this year. Last year the league had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 but this year it will be staged between September 25- October 9. Ab de Villiers is all set to be the biggest attraction in the Everest Premier League as he is widely regarded as one of the greatest T20 batsmen of all time.

Talking about other big international players, Chris Gayle was also signed to feature in the EPL last year for Pokhra Rhinos before the COVID-forced postponement. With Ab de Villiers all set to feature in the league the Universe Boss also might decide to play in the 2021 edition of the tournament. Other notable players such as Kevin O’Brien, Paul Stirling, Rohan Mustafa, Roelof van der Merwe and Richard Levi are some of the players who featured in the 2018-19 season of EPL.

Ab de Villiers To Play In The Everest Premier League

The news about Ab de Villiers playing in the EPL this year was confirmed by EPL Managing Director Aamir Akhtar.

“We are trying our best to bring top international cricketers for EPL to put Nepal in the frame of global cricket. We had tried to bring AB de Villiers the previous season as well but he couldn’t be available. This edition he has agreed to be here. If nothing comes in between, he will be playing at the TU grounds for sure”, he told Cricketing Nepal.

Meanwhile, the team of Ab de Villiers is yet to confirm the news but all the teams of the Everest Premier League are expected to go after him before the tournament. Pokhra Rhinos and Lalitpur Patriots, Bhairahawa Gladiators, Chitwan Tigers, Biratnagar Warriors and Kathmandu Kings XI are six teams who will be part of the competition this year.

Furthermore, De Villiers will be playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021.

I think every franchise will run behind a player like AB de Villiers. We know other teams are also trying to get him like us. We are hoping to rope him into our franchise,” Lalitpur Patriots owner Kishor Maharjan said.
