‘Absolutely Disgraceful’: DC Co-Owner Parth Jindal Received Criticism For His Animated Response To Sanju Samson’s Dismissal

There have been instances in the IPL where captains have expressed their frustration with on-field or TV umpire decisions from the dugout. However, during the IPL 2024 match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, a remarkable event occurred when DC co-owner Parth Jindal intervened from the stands regarding a controversial decision benefiting his team.

This incident unfolded in the 16th over of RR’s chase when skipper Sanju Samson hit Mukesh Kumar down the ground, nearly clearing the fence. Shai Hope made an impressive catch to his left while maintaining balance inside the boundary. The replay indicated that he was near the boundary cushions but didn’t make contact with them.

Initially, Samson started to walk off but returned after reviewing the replays on the big screen. However, the third umpire determined that Hope remained within the field boundaries and didn’t touch the boundary cushions with his feet.

Despite Samson’s dissatisfaction with the decision, he had no choice but to unwillingly leave the field.

Sanju Samson got upset over umpiring decisions

While Samson voiced his disagreement with the on-field umpire regarding the decision, Jindal began shouting “out hai, out hai” at him. Jindal’s conduct garnered criticism from social media users, who quickly began to condemn him for his behaviour.

Regarding the game, Delhi resumed their winning streak with an impressive 20-run triumph over the Royals, maintaining their faint hopes of making it to the IPL playoffs. Tristan Stubbs played a blistering innings, scoring 41 runs off 20 balls, propelling Delhi Capitals to a total of 221/8 after the Rajasthan Royals chose to field.

In response, the Royals were held to 201/8, with Kuldeep Yadav shining as the standout bowler for Delhi, claiming figures of 2/25. Khaleer Ahmed (2/47) and Mukesh Kumar (2/30) also contributed to Delhi’s bowling effort.

The Lucknow Super Giants are currently in 6th place in the IPL 2024 standings with 12 points. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will square off against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 14th at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
