ACB suspends Mohammad Shahzad for an indefinite period

After a disappointing World Cup campaign, the problems seem to be endless for the Afghanistan cricket team. Their explosive wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad has been suspended by the board for an indefinite period. The board has announced the same through its official social media handle.

ACB stated that the player violated the code of conduct recently. He hasn”t intimated the board regarding his departure to another country and this lead to unexpected consequences.

Mohammad Shahzad”s exit from the World cup was one of the most controversial ones. The player claimed that he wasn”t injured and he couldn”t understand the game played by the board that led to the same. Additionally, their star pacer Aftab Alam was also recalled at the last stage of the tournament.

Several reports emerged that there hasn”t been unity between the then captain Gulbadin Naib and seniors. Though the coach Phil Simmons mentioned that he will be speaking about the same after the tournament, there hasn”t been any till now.

A new skipper

The board has recently appointed Rashid Khan as their skipper across all the formats. A huge challenge awaits Rashid to rejuvenate the side and get them to winning ways.

On the other hand,  Afghanistan will be resuming their national duties with their only test against Bangladesh(starting September 5). The side will be hoping for a change in fortunes in days to come.
