ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023: India A Squad Announced; Yash Dhull Named Captain

The ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to commence on July 14 in Sri Lanka. The competition will be played in the ODI format and will feature eight teams. Following the recent victory of India A in the inaugural Women’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, the men’s A team is also prepared to participate in this tournament.

Sri Lanka will serve as the host country for the 5th edition of the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The tournament will consist of 15 matches, with the final game scheduled for July 23. The article provides information on the tournament’s schedule, participating squads, and other key details.

The participating teams include the A teams of the five Asian Test-playing nations, namely Bangladesh, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Additionally, Oman, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will compete with their full-fledged teams. The eight teams have been divided into two groups of four teams each.

Group A comprises Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A, Oman, and the UAE, while Group B consists of India A, Pakistan A, Sri Lanka A, and Nepal. The tournament’s schedule outlines the group stage matches, where each team will play three games. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The tournament will commence on July 14 and conclude on July 23.

However, the BCCI on Tuesday announced India A squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. The 2022 under-19 World Cup winning captain Yash Dhull will lead the team while Abhishek Sharma has been named as the deputy as well.

Tamil Nadu’s Sai Sudharsan who did well during this year’s Indian Premier League with Gujarat Titans was also added to the team. Pradosh Ranjan Paul found a place too as well. Among bowlers, Manav Suther and Yuvrajsinh Dodiya – who had impressed during the Ranji Trophy last season have been added to the 15-member team.

India will open their campaign against UAE A on July 13 before facing Pakistan A and Nepal on July 15 and 18, respectively.
