Aditya Sarvate Shines With Five-Wicket Haul

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Kerala’s Aditya Sarvate delivered a brilliant bowling performance against Punjab. Across the rain-affected first two days, Sarvate bowled 30 overs, including 12 maiden overs, and took five key wickets while conceding just 59 runs.

On Day 1, Sarvate picked up three wickets, putting Punjab in a tough spot after they opted to bat first. His dismissal of Abhay Choudhary early on set the tone for Kerala’s dominance. Sarvate’s spell continued on Day 2, where he claimed the scalps of key players like skipper Prabhsimran Singh and Ramandeep Singh, playing a pivotal role in keeping Punjab’s score in check.

Punjab Struggles in First Innings

Punjab’s batting line-up faltered in the face of Kerala’s impressive bowling. After winning the toss and opting to bat, Punjab quickly lost wickets, slumping to 62 for five by the lunch break on Day 1. Despite a brief recovery, the team could not build a substantial partnership.

Contributions from Anmolpreet Singh (28), Ramandeep Singh (43), and lower-order batsmen like Krish Bhagat (15) were not enough to counter Kerala’s bowling attack. By the 77th over of the innings, Punjab found themselves at 180 for nine, with only one wicket in hand. Siddarth Kaul and Mayank Markande remained at the crease as the side faced the prospect of a subpar total.

Kerala’s Dominance Continues

Kerala’s bowlers maintained pressure on Punjab throughout Day 2, led by Sarvate’s outstanding spell and supported by veteran all-rounder Jalaj Saxena, who claimed four wickets.

Punjab’s batting struggles persisted, and Kerala’s disciplined bowling restricted them to 180 for nine by the end of the second day. With just one wicket remaining, Kerala looks to bundle Punjab out quickly on Day 3 and continue their strong showing in the tournament.

Sarvate’s five-wicket haul and Kerala’s collective effort have put them in a commanding position as the match progresses, with Punjab reeling and struggling to post a competitive total.
