Chennai Super Kings stalwart Suresh Raina pulling out of IPL 2020 came as a massive setback to the franchise and their millions of fans. In the wake of the development, fans are curious who will be their vice-captain in the upcoming tournament. Chennai has come out with a hilarious answer on when asked about their vice-captain.

Meanwhile, Raina pulled out amid growing tension of COVID-19 fear. After a lot of speculations over the last few days, the cricketer cleared all the air stating his reason for pulling out. Incidentally, Raina has been part of the Super Kings in all the 10 seasons they have played.

Chennai reveals who will be their next vice-captain

Suresh Raina quashed all reports of a rift between him and the Chennai Super Kings management. He stated it was a personal decision and was worried about his family during his stay in the UAE with the side.

“It was a personal decision and I had to come back for my family. There was something that needed to be addressed immediately on the home front,” Raina told Cricbuzz.

“I have a young family back home and I was concerned about the fact that if something happened to me,” Raina said. “My family is most important to me and I am really concerned for them during these times. I haven’t seen my kids for more than 20 days, even after coming back, since I am in quarantine,” he added. 

Meanwhile, soon after Suresh Raina’s departure, every CSK fan is curious to know who their next vice-captain is. Apart from his batting, Raina has led Chennai on few occasions in the absence of MS Dhoni. The official handle of the franchise came up a witty response in Tamil.

“Wise captain irukke bayam yen?,” – CSK responded which translates to “Why fear when we have a ‘wise captain’?”

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings members tested COVID-19 negative which will bring some fresh air after a couple of difficult days. They are likely to begin practice soon and gear up for IPL 2020 starting September 19.
