Yograj Singh, who once criticized MS Dhoni, has now praised the former captain for his leadership qualities. The 66-year-old called Dhoni a “motivated and fearless” captain, emphasizing his pitch reading and guidance for bowlers.

Yograj recounted an instance during which Dhoni hit Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson for a six after being struck on the helmet, sharing the story on the YouTube show ‘Unfiltered by Samdish’ (via Indian Express):

“I find Dhoni as a very motivated captain, who can tell people what to do. The best thing about Dhoni was that he could read the wicket can tell bowlers where to bowl. What I liked the most about him was that he was a fearless man.”

“If you remember in Australia, he was hit on the grill my Mitchell Johnson and he didn’t moved a bit, he stood there and next ball he pulled him for a six. Aise log kaafi kam hote hai (There are very few people like him,” he added.

It is notable that Dhoni once instructed his teammates not to celebrate after winning the tri-series in Australia in 2008.

“I won’t forgive MS Dhoni”– Yograj Singh Accuses MS Dhoni of Ruining Yuvraj’s Career

Earlier, Yograj Singh claimed that MS Dhoni had ruined his son Yuvraj Singh’s career. He made this statement on Zee Switch’s YouTube channel in September 2024:

“I won’t forgive MS Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very big cricketer, but what he has done against my son, everything is coming out now; it can never be forgiven in life.”

“I have never done two things in life—first, I have never forgiven anybody who has done wrong for me, and second, I have never hugged them in my life, be it my family members or my kids. That man (MS Dhoni) has destroyed the life of my son, who could have played four to five years more,” he added.

Dhoni led India to victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, with Yuvraj Singh playing key roles in both tournaments. Yuvraj’s final game for India was in 2017, before his retirement in 2019. Dhoni retired from international cricket in August 2020, having last played for India in the 2019 World Cup.
