Ajay Jadeja, Worth ₹1,450 Crore, Surpasses Virat Kohli Among India’s Richest Cricketers- Reports

With a reported net worth of ₹1,450 crore, former India batter Ajay Jadeja is believed to have surpassed Virat Kohli among India’s richest cricketers. Media reports indicate that Jadeja’s wealth increased significantly after he was named heir to the Jamnagar Royal Throne, while Kohli’s net worth is estimated at around ₹1,000 crore.

Jadeja’s financial turnaround was marked on Dussehra, October 12, when Maharaja Jamsaheb of Nawanagar publicly announced him as the heir to the Jamnagar Royal Throne. In this announcement, the Maharaja stated:

“The festival of Dussehra marks the day the Pandavas emerged victorious from exile. Today, on Dussehra, I am equally happy, as I have found a resolution to one of my dilemmas thanks to Ajay Jadeja, who has accepted to be my heir. Ajay Jadeja taking up the responsibility of serving the people of Jamnagar is truly a boon.”

The connection between Jamnagar and cricket extends far beyond Jadeja. The Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy are named after KS Ranjitsinhji and KS Duleepsinhji, both of whom hail from Jamnagar and are related to Jadeja. His father, Daulatsinghji, was a former Member of Parliament (MP) from Jamnagar.

Details about Ajay Jadeja’s cricketing journey

A former middle-order batter, Jadeja was a key player in the Indian ODI team during the 1990s. He played in 196 one-day matches, scoring 5,359 runs at an average of 37.47, including six centuries and 30 fifties. The 53-year-old also represented India in three World Cups: 1992, 1996, and 1999.

In addition to one-day cricket, the former India batter played in 15 Test matches, amassing 576 runs at an average of 26.18, with four half-centuries, including a top score of 96. However, his technique in red-ball cricket often struggled on difficult pitches, preventing him from thriving in Test matches.

Besides being a savvy middle-order batsman in ODIs, Jadeja was also considered one of India’s finest fielders, alongside Mohammad Azharuddin and Robin Singh. He served as a mentor for the Afghanistan team, which delivered an impressive performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

After retiring from cricket, Jadeja ventured into acting, appearing in several Bollywood films, and participated as a contestant on the celebrity dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
