While a lot has been spoken about Rohit Sharma and his maiden double, there hasn’t been a greater focus on Rahane. The Indian southpaw scored his 11th century and saved the game from what would have been a collapse.
Reeling at 39/3, Rohit and Rahane added a 200+ partnership, thus accelerating the total to another level. Rahane’s innings of 115 included 17 boundaries and one six. What’s interesting here is the pace with his he added a greater value with Rohit. He was picking up the gaps easily and kept adding boundaries to his account.
Rather than the century, he has now added a unique record to his name. He has now been involved in 200 partnerships without affecting a run-out (neither to him / his partner). In his career of 61 Tests, he has never been short of the crease.
Rahane and his recent Test form
Right from the start of the Test championship, Rahane has played several valuable innings. He now has over 216 runs at an average of 72 in this series.
Did You Know: Ajinkya Rahane's stand today with Rohit Sharma was his 200th partnership in Tests without ever being involved in a run out. A world record at the moment. In his 61 Tests career, neither him nor his partner has been run out. #IndvRSA
