Ajinkya Rahane Reveals Rohit Sharma’s Batting Position Ahead Of 3rd Test

Ajinkya Rahane has spoken concerning the batting position of Rohit Sharma ahead of the 3rd Test at Sydney. The star India opener is almost confirmed to play the Sydney Test that begins tomorrow. Rohit who has tasted success as an opener in Test cricket was expected to play at that position in the upcoming Test.

Still many believed that the team management should continue with Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal as openers. Gill was highly impressive on his debut whereas Agarwal averages close to 50 as an opener in Tests. However India’s stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane has confirmed that Rohit will indeed open the innings.

In the press conference ahead of the 3rd Test, Rahane stated that he is glad that Rohit has joined the squad for the last two Tests. He further indicated that Rohit has been batting well in the nets and will open in the upcoming Test.

“We’re all happy to have Rohit Sharma back. He brings a lot of experience to the side. He has been batting really well in the nets. He has been opening for us so he will definitely bat at the top of the order”, Rahane said about Rohit Sharma.

We are not annoyed with quarantine rules

Meanwhile, a lot has transpired since the victory of India at MCG. 5 Indian players including Rohit Sharma were sent to isolation after they ate food at a restaurant without masks in Melbourne. Several reports of Cricket Australia suggested that the concerned players breached the bio-secure bubble protocols.

Eventually, it was confirmed that the hosts were just playing mind games and trying to get under the skins of team India. Rahane asserted that his team is not worried about quarantine rules and are just aiming to play good cricket in the next encounter.

Ajinkya Rahane also suggested that BCCI and the team management will take the final call on playing the Brisbane Test.

“We are not annoyed with the quarantine rules. It’s a challenge to be in quarantine when you see the outside life is normal. We are focusing on playing good cricket”, Rahane said.

Furthermore, the third Test between Australia and India will begin from tomorrow at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
