Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is fresh from his maiden first-class fifty in the second warm-up game against Australia A. His unbeaten helped 55 helped India to get to 194 in the first innings at the SCG. Meanwhile, former Aussie skipper Allan Border has heaped praise on the pacer saying that he will pose the most problems for the Australian batters in the Test series.

Having made his debut for India in 2016, Bumrah quickly rose up the ranks to become India’s most dependable bowler. The 27-year-old has accounted for 68 Tests, 108 and 59 scalps in ODIs and T20Is respectively. He also took 18 wickets in the 2019 ICC World Cup, the fifth most in the campaign.

Meanwhile, in a discussion panel on Channel 7, Allan Border has heaped praises on the Indian pacer.

“It’s incredible, his rise through the ranks just out of probably IPL. It started there and he has just taken the world of cricket by storm. He has an unusual action, everyone thought he is going to struggle with injuries and things like that. He has had a little bit of a niggle of late.” said Border on Bumrah.

Jasprit Bumrah is the Real Deal: Allan Border

Allan Border further said that with his awkward action, Jasprit Bumrah will pose problems for the Aussie batters and he is the ‘real deal’. The former Aussie cricketer said that it was important for India to develop a couple of pacers in these grassy wickets which have served them all the goods in the last couple of years.

“He is the real deal, isn’t he. He just has the awkward action but he bowls at good pace, so not the classical way of doing things. It is very much an Indian thing really, they just let the kids develop their own styles. India really needed to develop some fast bowlers, didn’t they. Every time they toured anywhere, they were presented with grassy pitches, pace-friendly pitches. So the days of playing three or four spinners are long gone.”

Meanwhile, the BCCI has asked Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur and Natarajan to stay back for the Test series as a cover-up for any last-minute injury to any of the bowlers in the initial squad.
