Alastair Cook Picks His All-Time XI; Full Team Here

In a video posted by the Lord’s Ground official Twitter account, the former England captain Alastair Cook who recently scored a magnificent double hundred against the West Indies was seen picking his all-time XI.

The team consisted of four Australian players, two each from England, South Africa and Sri Lanka and a solitary player from the island nation Sri Lanka. Surprisingly, no Indians made the cut.

Cook chose a left-hand right-hand combination for the opening slot in the form of former England legend Graham Gooch and Australian hard-hitting left-hander Mathew Hayden. This is the perfect opening combination with Hayden’s hard-hitting capability and Gooch’s solidity in technique. The England batsman was also chosen to lead the side.

The middle-order was jam-packed with the likes of Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, and AB De Villiers. Everybody will like to have Ponting and Lara in their middle-order as both are legends in their game and have 25,331 Test runs behind their name. De Villiers is the perfect man for the no 5 spots who is known for his hard-hitting capability and manoeuvring the field with ease.

Katherine Brunt’s all-time playing XI

The Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara was picked as the wicket-keeper batsman for his impeccable batting quality. He is also known for his sharpness behind the stumps taking 182 catches in Tests.

One of the best all-rounders ever to play the game of cricket, Jacques Kallis was chosen as the solitary all-rounder for the team. Batting at 7 he will provide depth in the batting order and can increase the tempo of his game when required. He is also very handy with the ball picking up important wickets and giving major breakthroughs.

Mushtaq Ahmed’s all-time playing XI

The 32-year-old batsman chose the deadliest spinning duo of Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan for his all-time XI team. This duo has the capability of finishing some of the best batting line-ups on their own. With 1508 Test wickets behind their name they are possibly the best spinners ever to grace the cricketing field.

Cook then went with Australia’s Glen McGrath and England’s James Anderson as the seam bowler to conclude his team. Known for their accuracy and swinging capabilities, both of them can prove to be decisive in any part of the world picking up early wickets.
