1. ODI and Test cap numbers

Debuts are always special and when a cricketer makes his debut he is given a new cap number. Virat Kohli is India’s 269th Test player and 175th ODI players. Kohli has inked both numbers on his arm as these are very special to him.

Kohli first played ab ODI match for India in 2008 in Sri Lanka. Whereas he made his Test debut at Jamaica against West Indies in 2011.

2. Parent names in Hindi

Virat also has his parent names inked on his arm in Hindi. Saroj and Prem are his mothers and fathers names who have helped their son reach where he is today. “I call it God’s eye. So, basically, the all-seeing eye. That everything that’s happening is being watched and there’s someone always keeping a count of everything that you do.

So that makes you feel connected in a way and also, that makes you understand the essence of life and what we need to do as human beings and what our eventual goal is.”

5. OM

The God’s eye turns into OM on his shoulder which is a universal sound. OM is possibly the most consistent thing in the whole universe. Kohli got it inked in 2018 and has shared details about the meaning behind the tattoo.

“Anywhere you observe sounds of the universe that is, you know, what is the most consistent sound that you will hear and that is the essence of life. To understand you’re not even a dust particle in the universe and sometimes our ego allows us to think that we’re everything.

So, I think it’s quite astonishing and quite magnificent in a lot of ways. I’ve started to understand that now. So, I have started to realize strongly that I’m meant to be where I am and this is not random.”

6. Lord Shiva

Lord Shiva doing meditation signifies destroyer of Evil and God of creation. It keeps reminding Kohli about the fact that only the destruction of wrong things would pave a path for all the right things in life.


7. Monastery

A tattoo which has peace and power connected with it. A symbol with which Kohli connects a lot and also reminds him about the hard work and sacrifices he has made over the years in his life to become a cricketer.

8. Tribal Art

This was the first tattoo the Kohli got inked on his arm design of Tribal Art. This represents aggression and never say die spirit that Kohli has in abundance. Aggression is a huge part of his life when he is on the cricket field which continuously helps him to achieve excellence.
