The much-awaited Test series between India and Australia is all set to commence from December 17 (Thursday) with the pink-ball contest. Ahead of the prestigious Border-Gavaskar series, former Aussie cricketer Allan Border has named one Indian cricketer who can make all the difference in the upcoming four-match contest.
Meanwhile, the last time India toured Down Under, they scripted history beating Australia 2-1 for the first time in history. Australia will look to reclaim the prestigious trophy after losing the last two series including one at home. On the other hand, Virat Kohli & Co will be keen to set their hands on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the third time in a row.
Jasprit Bumrah will be key for India – Allan Border
As the all-important series look to kick-off, Allan Border has named Jasprit Bumrah to be India’s key man. The former Aussie cricketer feels Bumrah needs to deliver the goods if India have to retain the trophy and replicate their performance from 2018-19.
“Well I am a huge fan of Bumrah. If he keeps himself fit. We are talking of a guy who can win games for you fellows. I worry about him because on our pitches you get a little bit of bounce and sideways movement,” said Allan Border.
“For India to win, I am worried about Bumrah. If he fires up like he did last time, get important wickets, ruffle a few feathers with the ball, I reckon he could be the real difference,” he added.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah returned with the highest number of wickets in the last Test series Down Under. He finished with 21 wickets including a five-wicket haul at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Allan Border feels if Bumrah remains fit throughout the tour, he can make all the difference in the four-match rubber.
“You always think that your batting line-up will get enough runs, you need the 20 wickets to win the Test. If he stays fit, he is the one who is going to be a key. He (Bumrah) is a ripper. Just the way he plays his cricket, always has smile on his face. Lethal when he gets his rhythm going,” concluded Allan Border.
