If Mumbai Indians’ victory is to describe in one word, it is ‘Comprehensive’ as an all-round display in the batting and bowling ensured their 9th win if the season. Jasprit Bumrah’s phenomenal spell cleaned up the Delhi Capitals’ batting even before it started and Ishan Kishan finished things off in style yet again with bat as he scored his 6th IPL fifty of the season. Now Delhi Capitals need to win their last game of the season otherwise they might just get into a position where they might just not qualify for the playoffs.

It all started at the toss as Kieron Pollard the Mumbai Indians Skipper won the toss and elected to field first. Both sides made as many as three changes as we saw the likes of Jayant Yadav and Praveen Dubey get their first games of the season. Whereas Rohit Sharma continued to stay out of the side as he’s still recovering from the hamstring injury he sustained in this season.

Delhi Capitals lose four in a row

The Delhi Capitals batting started off in extreme rough fashion as Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed off the very second delivery he faced. Following which Prithvi Shaw who made a return into the side in this match was also dismissed for a score of 10. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant tried building a partnership of 35 which came to an end as Rahul Chahar got him out stumped. After which there was nothing much to define the batting collapse of Delhi Capitals as they scored just 110 at the end of 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians required to score less than a run a ball as the target was merely 111. Opening batters Quinton de Kock and Ishan Kishan left no stone unturned as they chased the target down in less than 15 overs as Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 72 off 47 deliveries.

There’s always banter when Rishabh Pant is keeping: Ishan Kishan

The man of the match of today’s match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals was Ishan Kishan for his unbeaten half-century which helped Mumbai Indians chase down the target of 111 in under 15 overs.

At the post-match presentation, Ishan Kishan said that initially in the innings the ball wasn’t coming on to the bat which is why he was waiting for the loose balls to be bowled. He credited his mom for keeping him healthy and fit during the lockdown period which immensely helped him.

“It wasn’t as easy as it looked. In the first few overs, it wasn’t coming on. I was just playing according to the ball and waiting for the loose balls. [The strength] credit goes to my mom for the food. I was just working on keeping my shape when I tried to slog, and I think helped. I worked really hard on these shots,” Ishan Kishan said.

“My coach said teams will come up with plans against you because you don’t hit that much through the offside. This time I’ve been playing more, as you know my strength is on the leg side. There’s always banter when Pant is keeping and when I’m keeping. It was fun, he was saying something as he always does,” he added.
