Alyssa Healy Tackles Pitch Invader During WPL 2024 Match

UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy confronted a pitch invader during the Women’s Premier League 2024 match against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, February 28 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The match was forced to half for a brief period due to the security breach.

The incident took place before the final ball of the Mumbai Indians innings in the match. Anjali Sarvani dismissed Sajeevan Sajana on the penultimate delivery of the innings. The incident wasn’t aired during the match, however, photos were shared widely on social media. Alyssa Healy is seen tackling the pitch invader in the photos.

UP Warriorz gets off the mark in 2024 WPL

The UP Warriorz secured their first win of the 2024 Women’s Premier League on Wednesday, against the Mumbai Indians at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. They won the match by seven wickets, getting off the mark on the points table with two points. Currently, they are fourth with one win from three matches.

UP Warriorz restricted the Mumbai Indians to 161 runs for the loss of six wickets. Grace Harris was the pick of the bowlers with one wicket at an economy rate of just 5. Meanwhile, Hayley Matthews was the leading run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians in the innings, with 55 runs from 47 deliveries, slamming nine boundaries and a six.

In response, Kiran Navgire smashed a fifty to lead the UP Warriorz’ chase. They chased down the target in the seventeenth over, with Grace Harris and Deepti Sharma’s partnership of 65 runs. Harris remained unbeaten on 38, while Deepti scored 27*. Navgire won the Player of the Match award, scoring 57 runs from just 31 deliveries, at a strike rate of 183.87. She slammed six boundaries and four sixes in the match.

The Alyssa Healy-led team will be taking on the Gujarat Giants in their next match of the 2024 WPL on Friday, March 1 in Bengaluru.
