Ambati Rayudu Joins St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Prior To CPL Season

Ambati Rayudu has committed to being the marquee player for the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots team. He has the possibility of becoming the second player from India to engage in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Following his participation with CSK in the IPL 2023, Rayudu has committed to the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots as their key player, according to ESPNcricinfo.

Post the IPL, the 37-year-old was announced as one of the signings for the Texas Super Kings, CSK’s affiliated team, in the Major Cricket League taking place in the USA.

Nevertheless, Rayudu chose not to take part in the MLC following the Indian cricket board’s announcement of considering a policy for a cooling-off period for players. This measure aims to prevent players from engaging in foreign leagues immediately after retiring.

Nevertheless, the BCCI has not made a decision on this issue. If Rayudu is given an opportunity to play, he would be the second Indian cricketer, following Pravin Tambe, to participate in the CPL.

‘Rayudu Eagerly Awaits CPL’

“I am really excited to be joining the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. I look forward to having a positive contribution for the team in the upcoming CPL 2023,” Rayudu said, as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

In the meantime, Mahesh Ramani, the owner of the Patriots, expressed his approval of Rayudu joining the team, mentioning that his expertise will be beneficial for the young players on the squad.

Rayudu’s inclusion will be advantageous for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, especially considering the absence of Dwayne Bravo in 2023, as he switched over to the Trinbago Knight Riders.

Rayudu embarked on his IPL venture in 2010, contributing to two of the most accomplished franchises – Mumbai Indians (2010-17) and Chennai Super Kings (2018-23).

During the trophy presentation ceremony, MS Dhoni extended a heartfelt invitation to Rayudu onto the stage.

Throughout his career, he has participated in 203 IPL matches, amassing 4348 runs with a strike rate of 127, achieving 22 half-centuries and one century. His standout performance was his achievement of 602 runs during the 2018 season with CSK.
