Andrew Tye Plays Pre-Match Mind Games With James Neesham

Ahead of the eighth match of the Big Bash League between the Perth Scorchers and the Hobart Hurricanes, Australian pacer Andrew Tye warned New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham to watch his toes. Neesham was left with a bleeding toe in their last clash. Replying to one of Neesham’s old stories on Instagram, Tye said that he was coming for the big toe again.

This incident took place during this year’s T20 Blast match between Northamptonshire and Durham. In that game, Andrew Tye had bowled a toe-crushing yorker that hit Neesham’s toe, and it got bruised. Luckily the all-rounder did not have to miss any games during the competition.

Neesham is participating in the BBL 12 as an overseas replacement player for the Hobart Hurricanes. In September this year, the Kiwi had turned down the central contract offered by New Zealand Cricket in order to make himself available for playing overseas franchise leagues.

Hobart Hurricanes beat Perth Scorchers by eight runs

The match between the Perth Scorchers and the Hobart Hurricanes ended in the favour of the latter who had a close eight-run victory on the final ball of the game.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Hurricanes posted a total of 172/8 on the board courtesy of a half-century from skipper Matthew Wade scoring 51 off 29 balls and the finishing touches provided by Tim David which took the team to this total.

The Scorchers started off well with the veteran batter getting the team to a flyer scoring 32 off 16 balls. After his wickets fell at regular intervals despite a brilliant knock of 62 runs from 37 balls by wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis. Perth Scorchers were restricted to 164/8. This win allowed the Hurricanes to register their first win and get points on board.
