T20 World Cup 2021: Anushka Sharma Reacts After India’s Defeat Against New Zealand

Anushka Sharma

India has lost two consecutive matches against Pakistan and New Zealand respectively. While they lost to arch-rivals Pakistan by 10 wickets, they faced an 8-wicket loss to New Zealand as well. And, with this, their semi-final hopes are almost over owing to their net run rate of -1.609 as well.

However, recently, the wife of Indian captain Virat Kohli as well as the Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has shared a message for the players.

Anushka re-shared a post by Imran Sarfaraz on her Instagram stories where it was written: “Coach it’s easier to build strong children than to repair broken men”.

However, India pace bowler Mohammed Shami faced online abuses after Team India’s defeat to Pakistan. He had given away 43 runs in 3.5 overs in the match and a certain number of fans bashed him as well. But his teammates and India captain Virat Kohli backed him.

Virat Kohli had released a statement where he said, “Attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing that a human being can do. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion and what they feel about certain situations. But I have never ever thought of discriminating [against] anyone over their religion.”

Anushka Sharma’s daughter receives rape threats

Meanwhile, following their defeat to New Zealand, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s nine-month-old daughter, Vamika, has reportedly received rape threats as well. However, soon after this, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has decided the investigate the matter and they have subsequently issued a notice to Delhi Police as well. The women’s body said that this is a matter of “serious concern,” and requires “immediate attention” too.

“DCW has issued a notice to police over a threat made on Twitter to rape Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s daughter. Our chairperson Swati Maliwal has called this ‘shameful,’ and called for immediate arrest of the accused,” DCW’s official Twitter page has tweeted on Tuesday (November 2) and also shared an image of its letter addressed to the cyber-crime branch of the Delhi Police as well.
