The note expressed a child’s innocent and affectionate view of her father: “He looks like my brother. He is funny. He tickles me. I play makeup with him. I love him so much and he loves me this much.” The post captured a personal family moment, highlighting the joy and bond shared within the Kohli household. Anushka and Virat are parents to two children – their daughter Vamika and son Akaay.
De Villiers’ Slip-Up and Strained Friendship
While the Father’s Day post warmed hearts, it also revived memories of a past incident involving former South African cricketer AB de Villiers. In 2024, de Villiers had accidentally announced Anushka’s second pregnancy during a live stream. At the time, Virat Kohli had taken a break from international cricket, skipping the Test series against England, which led to speculation.
De Villiers later admitted in another video that he had made a mistake by sharing information that wasn’t yet public. This unintentional revelation reportedly led to a cooling-off period between the two cricketing legends, with Kohli not speaking to de Villiers for several months.
Reunion After RCB’s Maiden IPL Title
Despite the temporary fallout, the friendship between the two former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammates seems to have rekindled recently. Their reunion was publicly visible during the celebrations of RCB’s maiden IPL title win in 2025. Kohli and de Villiers hugged and celebrated RCB’s final victory against Punjab Kings.
Speaking about their restored camaraderie, de Villiers told Cricket.com, “He’s been in touch with me over the last six months. Thank goodness! Because I did have a bit of a footfall not too long ago when they were expecting their second child.” His comments suggested relief and happiness that their friendship had healed over time. The two cricketers, known for their deep bond both on and off the field, seem to have put the past behind them.
