Arjun Tendulkar Struggles In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Match

Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, had a disappointing outing in Goa’s opening match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament against Mumbai. Bowling his full quota of four overs, Arjun conceded 48 runs without taking a wicket. His performance with the bat was also underwhelming, scoring just nine runs off four balls. Goa eventually lost the match by 26 runs.

This game was crucial for Arjun as he aimed to impress IPL franchises ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Released by the Mumbai Indians (MI), who purchased him for ₹30 lakh in 2022, his form has been inconsistent, raising questions about whether he will attract bids in the upcoming auction scheduled in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25.

Underwhelming IPL Stint with Mumbai Indians

Arjun Tendulkar’s tenure with the Mumbai Indians has been far from impactful. Across two IPL seasons, he played just five matches, managing to take only three wickets. During the 2023 season, he featured in four games but failed to make a significant mark with either bat or ball. In the 2024 season, he appeared only once, as MI finished at the bottom of the points table. His lack of consistent performances eventually led to his release ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. While Arjun has shown glimpses of potential, his recent form in domestic cricket has not lived up to expectations, casting doubts over his future in the IPL.

Shreyas Iyer Shines with a Blistering Century

In contrast, Mumbai’s Shreyas Iyer stole the spotlight in the same match with a stunning unbeaten century. Released by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) despite leading them to an IPL title, Iyer proved his mettle with a blazing 130* off just 57 balls. His innings included 11 fours and 10 sixes, propelling Mumbai to an imposing total of 250/4. Iyer’s knock, which came at a staggering strike rate of 228.07, underscores his excellent form in domestic cricket and positions him as one of the top picks in the IPL 2025 auction. Placed in Marquee Set 1, Iyer is likely to command a lucrative contract as he looks to make a comeback in the IPL.

Arjun Tendulkar’s struggles, juxtaposed with Iyer’s stellar performance, highlight the challenges of sustaining form and proving value in the competitive world of cricket.
