Arshdeep Singh, the pace bowler, shared his thoughts on why he failed to cry after India’s stunning victory over South Africa in the T20 World Cup final in Barbados. While different players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya were emotional, Arshdeep remained composed. He attributed his calmness to his experience with the Punjab Kings in the IPL, in which he frequently played in high-pressure situations and became acquainted with them. He admitted that he tried to cry but couldn’t manage it.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Arshdeep contemplated on his emotions following the victory. He was surprised by the grand welcome the Indian team received during their bus parade from Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Watching videos of fans celebrating inside the streets filled him with joy, as he become thrilled that the team ought to deliver such happiness to their supporters.
He said: “I was very happy. In the IPL, I have played so many nerve-wracking matches for Punjab Kings that I don’t have any emotions left. Mai koshish kar raha tha but yaar aansu nikle nahi (I tried hard but just was not able to cry). I watched the legends of the game… Rohit bhai, Virat bhai, who have achieved so much… they just couldn’t control their emotions. I was happy for them. But I don’t know why I didn’t shed a tear.”

Arshdeep, who enjoys writing as a hobby, was asked if he had penned anything for India’s T20 World Cup win. He spoke back that the feelings from the victory and the celebratory parade were nonetheless sinking in, and he was desperate to put in writing something approximately it inside the future.
He added: “I haven’t got the chance yet (writing poetry). But whenever I get time, I will definitely put down my emotions on paper. This feeling of winning the World Cup, the reception we got…. I don’t think I would be able to do justice. I just love to write down whatever thoughts come to my mind. Writing poetry helps me take a break from cricket.”
In the tournament, Arshdeep Singh emerged as one of the standout performers, he was the joint-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets at an economy rate of 7.16.
