Arthur recommends PCB for sacking of Sarfaraz Ahmed from captaincy

Pakistan”s head coach Mickey Arthur has requested the PCB management to sack captaincy from Sarfaraz Ahmed. He also has called for the renovation of the existing team and asked for two more years to produce “remarkable” results.

One of the sources said, “Arthur did have some negative things to say about Sarfaraz”s captaincy skills to the members.” However, the source also mentioned that the PCB management is left unimpressed with his revelations. Arthur seemed to have said the fielding standards weren”t up to mark after CT 2017.

The members were not satisfied with his argument that after the 2017 Champions Trophy the fielding standards of the Pakistan team went down after the forced exit of fielding coach, Australian Steve Rixon”, said the source.

Pakistan”s performance in the World Cup wasn”t enough to book a semi-final berth. Inconsistency prevailed throughout the tournament and it certainly let them down.

The team hasn”t delivered its fullest potential too in tests as their rankings fell well below the table. Sources suggested that Sarfaraz was set to be taken off from the test captaincy.

Reports further suggest that Arthur wanted Shadab Khan to take up the reigns in limited-overs. He also wanted Babar Azam to lead in whites to be competitive enough in the longest format of the game.

Arthur-Golden moments

Arthur was appointed as the head coach in 2016. One of the greatest achievements during his tenure would be the ICC Champions Trophy triumph in 2017. The side also reached the top spot in T20I rankings.

On the other hand, PCB has another issue to handle the selection committee chairman. Inzamam quit the role a few weeks ago and a lot of work is in store for PCB officials.
