Team India suffered a humiliating whitewash in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. It is their first whitewash in a series of three or more matches in three decades. Although the Men in Blues failed to come out a unit, star batsman KL Rahul continued his blistering form. His rich vein of form earned praise from all quarters including teammate Shikhar Dhawan.

Meanwhile, the story was completely different a year ago when the Karnataka-based batsman found it tough to make it to the playing XI due to his inconsistency. His growing inconsistency raised doubts over his place in the playing XI but KL Rahul struck the right chords at the fag end of this year. Since then, Rahul has been unbeatable.

After a good series against Australia at home, the talented batsman was in full flow finishing as the highest run-scorer for his side in the T20Is and ODIs. Rahul finished with 224 runs in the T20Is while he amassed 204 runs in the ODIs including a century in the third and final ODI at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

KL Rahul's outstanding run with the bat and also helped him improve his wicket-keeping skills. India skipper Virat Kohli is looking at Rahul as the first-choice wicket-keeper batsman with Rishabh Pant failing to offer consistency and the latter has responded well. After his scintillating run with the bat, Shikhar Dhawan heaped high praise on the Karnataka batsman saying that he can also score a century as a 12th man.

“Well played and wonderful century bro keep going strong. The way you are batting, even if you go as 12th man you will score a ton,” Dhawan said in an Instagram post.
