Asghar Afghan reappointed as Afghanistan skipper

In a major turnaround of events, Asghar Afghan has been reappointed as the skipper of the Afghanistan side. Rashid Khan, who was given the role a few months back is all set to step down as the captain of the side.

The board decided to make this change after the recent performances against the Carribiens. Though the side came out on the top in T20I”s, they faced series defeats in ODI”s and the one-off Test.

However, the entire process now looks like a musical chair as the board has made changes over three times within a year. Asghar was kept aside from the role ahead of the World Cup. The board wanted to try split captaincy thus handling the role of Gulbadin Naib in ODI”s.

Their instincts proved to be severely wrong, as the Afghanistan side returned winless in the tournament. Reports also emerged that there was a severe rift between the seniors and Naib in the side.

Rashid Khan was then appointed the skipper across all the formats to revive their pride. But, things took a major turn yet again.

The next steps

Though the side was expected to stun major teams in some tournaments, poor decision-making skills costed the game.

The entire side will be hoping to be back to their normal ways with Asghar leading the pack again.
