Ashes 2019: England name an unchanged XI for Headingley Test

James Anderson still has to wait for his Ashes return as the ECB named an unchanged 12 member squad for the third test. Anderson bowled only four games in the first game and didn”t take part as his calf injury aggravated. Though he was rested for the one-off Irish encounter to be fit for the Ashes, situations turned upside down.

The English bowling line-up created a lot of pressure on the opposition at the Lord”s. Archer, Broad and Woakes bowled in tandem and gave enough breakthroughs in the middle. The addition of Jack Leach gave them the hope of a victory.

However, batting stills remains an unsolved puzzle. Barring Ben Stokes, others weren”t able to hang out in the middle. This led to a collapse in both the innings. It will be interesting if the side would reformulate the strategies ahead of the third test.

The hunt for the urn is all set to resume Thursday at Headingley. With only a three day break, the sides have very little time to be back in action.

England squad: Jason Roy, Rory Burns, Joe Root (capt), Joe Denly, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, Jack Leach, Sam Curran.
