Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has blamed the management of the team along with the structure in its domestic cricket structure for England’s loss at Melbourne. Australia have regained the Ashes inside 12 days with thumping wins at Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne.
Taking to Twitter Kevin Pietersen asked the England players to stay away from cricket and turn up for practice a day before the next Test in Sydney.
“And still NOT blaming the players. It’s the system. And, I’ve been on two 5-0 defeats and they’re horrendous for all! My advice – DO NOT GO TO THE NETS! Get away from cricket & turn up the day of the next game” wrote KP on Twitter.

England were bowled out for just 68 in their second innings as Australia won the match by an innings and 14 runs. Their batting has struggled ever since their series against India last year. At home against India as well, Root’s men have struggled to get runs. The same has replicated against Australia in the Ashes.
Root has scored over 1600 runs in the calendar year. The fact very much goes to show the lack of batting depth in the current Test team of England. The opening partnerships have been their biggest concern ever since the India series.
Meanwhile, former England skipper Michael Atherton has said that he does not foresee Joe Root carrying on as the captain of the Test side after this drubbing.
“It is hard to see that Root will want to carry on after the end of this series. He has now failed in his quest for the Ashes on three occasions, and has lost seven out of eight Tests in Australia, more than any other England captain. The bruising experience of four years ago has been followed by what feels like an even more disastrous tour” Atherton wrote in his column for The Times.
