Ashes 2023: [WATCH] Unlucky Dismissal Of Harry Brook After Showcasing A Good Innings

On the opening day of the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston on Friday, England middle-order batsman Harry Brook discovered a novel method of leaving the field.

Nathan Lyon, the top off-spinner in Australia, caught the right-hander with a ball that had extra bounce and hit the stumps as Brook lost track of it. The dismissal took place in the innings’ 38th over as the batter for Yorkshire posed a threat to win the match for Australia.

Brook shouldered arms to the ball while Lyon was bowling from near the wicket, not realizing where the ball ended up, and it continued to hit the stumps. The tourists were exuberant after being dismissed because they had made a significant advancement.

Harry Brook: Ashes

After Australia had brought down the hosts to 124-3, Brook scored 32 off of 37 with four boundaries and joined forces with his former captain Joe Root for 51 runs. Ben Stokes, the captain of England, had previously chosen to bat first after winning the toss.

Australia, the newly crowned World Test Champions, dropped Mitchell Starc in favor of Josh Hazelwood, dropping a selection bombshell. Nevertheless, Hazlewood upheld the decision by dismissing both Stokes and opener Ben Duckett.

Prior to the first Test, Brook stated that he would try to attack Lyon and move him to the gaps while respecting the good deliveries. The ICC cited his words as follows: “If he bowls a good ball, I’ll respect it. I’m going to attempt to challenge him aside from that. He might take many wickets, but hopefully we’ll be able to run him for a lot of runs.

I’d like to think that I’m a player who can identify gaps and capitalize on them. I try to play around the entire wicket. I’ll check out his available field. They’ll likely start by having everyone stand up, and then we’ll move forward from there. ”

At the crease for England are Jonny Bairstow, who has reached his fifty-first run, and Joe Root. Australia defeated the hosts at the venue in 2019.
