Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra recently spoke at a press conference ahead of IPL 2025. During the session, he was asked about Glenn Phillips and the growing social media buzz surrounding the New Zealand star. Responding in a lighthearted manner, Nehra stated that he was unaware of the hype around Phillips.
The New Zealand all-rounder became a trending topic on social media following his exceptional fielding performances in the 2025 Champions Trophy. His stunning catches—one to dismiss Virat Kohli in the group stage and another one-handed effort to remove Shubman Gill—captivated the cricketing world.
However, Ashish Nehra admitted he wasn’t too familiar with the excitement surrounding Gujarat Titans’ newest all-rounder. Here’s what he had to say at the press conference:
“Kya sir, baat kya hoti hai media me batao Glenn Phillips ki? Mere ko pata nahi hota aaj kal. Position? Fielding ka? Fielding to har jagah kar sakte hai ye baat toh pakki hai.” (What are the media discussions about Glenn Phillips? Tell me. I don’t know. About his fielding? He can field anywhere)

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill also attended the press conference. One of GT’s latest signings, Jos Buttler, had not kept wickets for England in their recent matches. When asked whether Buttler had been chosen as a wicketkeeper-batter, Gill responded:
“Yes, Jos Buttler has been selected as a wicketkeeper batter.”
“GT Not Focused on Chasing 300-Run Totals”- Shubman Gill
Recently, Shubman Gill predicted that a team might surpass the 300-run mark in IPL 2025. When asked whether Gujarat Titans would target this milestone, the GT captain responded:
“I don’t think as a team we are trying to chase 300 as a total. We will play the kind of cricket that is needed as per the conditions. If the wicket allows us to make 240-260 runs, then we are not saying to that. But there might be a situation where 150-160 might be ideal on a wicket.”
The Titans will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against Punjab Kings on March 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Ticket sales for the highly anticipated match in Ahmedabad are now available both online and offline.
