Ravichandran Ashwin is currently spending some time with the Nottinghamshire squad for this county season. After him and Rahane sought the NOC from BCCI, the two are ready to represent their sides in county cricket. Rahane’s century in his maiden game made rounds in social media. But what’s going on with Ashwin? Let’s have a look.

In the latest game against Surrey, Ashwin showed his brilliance as an all-rounder. He took 12 wickets in the game, registering spells of 6-69 and 6-75 respectively. Videos showing his various variations with the ball are trending on Twitter. Ashwin himself tweeted a video of him where his delivery created magic by knocking over a batsman out of nowhere.

Even with the bat, he scored 27 and 66 runs in the game. Though Notts lost the game by 167 runs against Surrey, the contribution of Ashwin was appreciated by many in the team. He remained unbeaten in the second innings with a fantastic 66 batting at number 7. Notts primarily weren’t able to tackle the spin of Amar Virdi a 20-year old off spinner who is a sensation in recent times. Virdi took 14 wickets in the match registering an 8-fer and a 6-fer respectively.

Ashwin’s golden form proved to be a blessing for the Indian side who will be playing two match test series against West Indies next month. It is to be noted that the series will mark the beginning of ICC test championship for the Indian side. Being the number 1 side in the longest format of the game, India will be looking forward to the test specialist to come out and give his best on the field.
