The Asia Cup 2022 schedule has been announced. The tournament will start on August 27 and end on September 11. The opening clash will be between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. India and Pakistan will face each other on 28 August. The tournament will be played in T20 Format.
6 teams will be participating in the competition. There are two groups:
Group A- India, Pakistan, Qualifier
Group B- Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka
The top-two teams from each group will play in ‘Super 4’ round. Every team in Super 4 will play against each other. The top 2 teams will qualify for the final. All the matches will begin from 7.30 pm IST.
The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka. However, due to economic crisis in the Island nation, it was shifted to UAE. The official organisers will still be Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Board. For the teams, The tournament will be a good preparation ahead of T20 World Cup in October.
The wait is finally over as the battle for Asian supremacy commences on 27th August with the all-important final on 11th September.

Which is the 3rd team in Group A?
Asia Cup 2022 Qualifying tournament will be played in Oman from 20 August. The winner will move to group A, with India and Pakistan.

Who has won the Asia Cup Most No. of times?
14 editions of Asia Cup have been played so far. India have been the most successful team. They have won the tournament 7 times (1984, 1988, 1990/91, 1995, 2010, 2016, and 2018). Sri Lanka and Pakistan have 5 and 2 titles respectively.
2016 edition is the only one which was played in the T20 Format. MS Dhoni-led India were unbeaten in that tournament.
Sri Lanka have won 34 Asia Cup matches which were played in the ODI format. India are next in the list with 31 wins. Last Asia Cup was held in 2018. India were the winners.
