The Bangladesh Cricket Team got a major boost as their star batter Litton Das will join them for the Super 4 stage after recovering from viral fever. They qualified for the top 4 stage as they thrashed Afghanistan by 89 runs in the final group match at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on 3rd September.

Bangladesh’s opening pair of Tanzid Hasan and Mohammad Naim looked ordinary as debutant Tanzid was dismissed without opening his account. It was a disappointing batting performance by Bangladesh could muster 164 and lost the match by 5 wickets.

Mohammad Naim opened the innings along with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and put on 60 runs for an opening partnership laying a strong foundation for a massive total. Thanks to centuries by Najmul Hasan Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Bangladesh posted 334 for 5 in 50 overs and then skittled out Afghanistan for just 245.

“The Asia Cup squad has a few injury concerns, and the team management felt the need for an additional player going into the Super Four,” the Bangladesh Cricket Board selection panel Chairman Minhajul Abedin said.

Litton Das is expected to play a key role for Bangladesh

The Super 4 stage will begin on 6th September 2023 with Bangladesh facing Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. After that match, Bangla Tiger will face Sri Lanka in their 2nd match which is likely to shift out of Colombo due to heavy rains on 9th September.

They will end the Super 4 stage against India on 15th September. The venues for the Super 4 stage will be decided soon as Colombo is facing heavy rains and more showers are predicted in the coming days.

Bangladesh will look to sort out the batting order after Liton Das returns to the squad. Najmul Hasan Shanto has been the star batter for the Bangladesh team at number 3 during this tournament so far with a brilliant 89 against Sri Lanka and then scored 104 against Afghanistan to help them post a big total.

It promises to be an exciting encounter as the 4 powerhouses of Asian Cricket including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and India qualify for the Super 4 Stage.
