India and Sri Lanka will face in the finals of Asia Cup 2023 finals to be played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 17th September. Both teams are in great form, especially the batters and would be looking to showcase their talent on a pitch that would help the bowlers.

The Indian team lost their previous match against Bangladesh by six runs despite only one batter showing some form while Sri Lanka made good use of batting conditions against Pakistan and registered a thrilling 2-wicket victory to qualify for the finals.

Here we look at the 3 Players Who Could Be Leading Runs Scorer in Asia Cup 2023 Final

  1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was in excellent form during the previous match against Bangladesh with a brilliant 121 and almost took India to a victory. With the pitch tough for the batters, Gill showed intent putting pressure on the Bangladeshi bowlers.

When he faced Sri Lanka in the Super 4 match, Gill looked decent before Dunith Wellage delivered a beauty and shattered stumps. He is the leading run-scorer in the tournament and would be looking to deliver the goods along with Rohit Sharma laying a strong foundation for a decent total.

The Indian team would be hoping that Gill provides an attacking start in the first 10 overs putting the Sri Lankan bowlers under immense pressure with an array of strokes.

  1. Kusal Mendis

The experienced Kusal Mendis has been in excellent form for Sri Lanka. He came to the crease and put enough pressure on the Pakistani bowlers hitting boundaries and not allowing them. Mendis rotated the strike well and made life tough for the opponents.

He along with Sadeera Samarawickrama showed aggression and hit the bad deliveries away for boundaries. It was an amazing knock as he kept the scoreboard ticking. Kusal Mendis fell short of his century by 9 runs with a superb catch by Mohammad Haris.

Kusal Mendis fell cheaply in the previous match against India to Jasprit Bumrah. He would be looking to come back with a match-winning performance in the finals leading Sri Lanka to the title.

  1. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli struggled as he was dismissed by Dunith Wellage cheaply. He was rested for the previous match against Bangladesh and would be hoping to return with a bang in the finals.

Kohli would be eager to showcase his skills in the finals against Sri Lanka, especially against the Sri Lankan slow bowlers. His contributions at number 3 would be of big help that would create pressure on the hosts.

If the openers struggle to provide a decent start, Kohli would be key to India’s chances with quick running between the wickets and put pressure on the Sri Lankan team.
