India will face Pakistan in a highly anticipated Super 4 clash to be played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 10 September 2023. Pakistan will be high on confidence after they thrashed Bangladesh by 7 wickets in their first Super 4 match played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
On the other, India will look to start the Super 4 stage with a win over arch-rivals Pakistan. The first match in the group stage was washed out due to rain. It closely fought contest as Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan stitched 138 runs partnership for the 5th wicket that helped India to post 266 after being reduced to 66 for 4.
It promises to be an exciting contest between these two arch-rivals. Both teams have a good quality batting lineup and provide entertainment for the crowd.
Here we look at the 3 Probable Run Getters Between India and Pakistan Asia Cup Super 4 Contest
- Rohit Sharma
The Indian captain Rohit Sharma looked impressive in the first Group match against Pakistan. He showed intent with some attacking shots against Shaheen Shah Afridi. Soon after the first rain break, he was dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi.
His role will be key tomorrow to provide India with a decent start against top-quality Pakistan pace bowling. He was named the man of the match for his brilliant knock in rain curtailed encounter against Nepal.
If Rohit Sharma can showcase his batting skills in the first 10 overs, then India has a great chance to win the match and gain confidence ahead of 2 more Super 4 matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
- Babar Azam
The Pakistan captain Babar Azam will also be a key in tomorrow’s encounter against India. He has been in decent form so far with 151 against Nepal and looked decent in the first Super 4 match against Bangladesh.
He needs to come up with an impressive knock keeping the Indian pace bowling trio under pressure with his positive strokes. The captain can perform in big matches and needs to cope if Pakistan has to do well against the Indian pace bowling department of Bumrah, Siraj, and whoever plays as the third pace bowling option.
It will be an interesting contest between Babar Azam and the Indian bowlers. Babar Azam needs to score runs freely if Pakistan needs to win against the Indian team.
- Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya came up with a superb knock in the first encounter against Pakistan at Kandy. India looked in deep trouble at 66 for 4. He showed intent on keeping singles and hitting boundaries to put pressure on Pakistan bowlers.
Pandya looked in fine touch milking the spinners well and hitting Haris Rauf for boundaries keeping the momentum going along 138 runs partnership with Ishan Kishan. He has improved as a batter and if the same situation arises in tomorrow’s encounter, Pandya’s role is to bat well again to help Team India post a decent total.
Pandya was eventually dismissed for 87. The innings were well constructed with a mix of aggression and keeping the scoreboard ticking.
