Asia Cup 2023: Nepal Announces Squad For The Mega Event

Nepal Cricket Association announced a 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2023 to be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka starting from 30th August 2023. Nepal will be playing in this event for the very first time and would be eager to showcase its talent against big teams like India and Pakistan. Rohit Paudel will lead the Nepal side for Asia Cup. Asif Sheikh, Kusal Bhurtel, Kushal Malla, DS Airee, and Gulshan Jha comprise of batters.

Sandeep Lamichhane, Karan KC, and Sompal Kami comprised spin bowling options would be eager to perform against top-quality teams. This tournament will provide Nepal with a great chance to test and make sure that they can get test themselves against two top Asian nations.

Nepal took part in the ICC qualifying round that took place in Zimbabwe. They lost against West Indies and Zimbabwe before winning their last group match against the United States of America.

Nepal placed in a tough group

Nepal has been clubbed with Pakistan and India in Group B for the mega event. They will open the tournament with a match against Pakistan at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on 30th August. Rohit Paudel and Co will face India in the last group match against India at Pallekele International Stadium, Kandy on 4th September.

Nepal qualified for this mega event by defeating the United Arab of Emirates in the finals of the Premier League played on 1st May 2023. They featured in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2023 against top-quality teams like India A, and Pakistan A. Nepal defeated UAE A in the last league game to finish third in the group stage.

They would be eager to give a tough fight against Pakistan and India in the Pool Stage. The top two teams in each group would qualify for the Super 4 Stage. Group B comprises of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
